Travel After Divorce

One of greatest aspects of being divorced is attaining the freedom to do things that you never would have the opportunity to do. On this short trip to Florida my girlfriend and I did all the fun risky things that our past lives never allowed us to do.

PRE-PLANNING OUR ARRIVAL

On this trip we already knew the lay of the land, and booked the exact same hotel as the trip before. What made this important was the knowledge that we could place our bags behind the front counter until our hotel room was ready. The early morning flight got us at our location early in the morning. Pre-loading our baggage was the perfect way to quickly get changed into our bathing suits, and making ourselves a thermos of cocktails (also a BIG money saver), and fill our little cooler bag with ice.

UBER TO THE BEACH

Make sure you do NOT end up at Haulover State park as it is not the clothing optional section, but end up at an entrance inside the Haulover Marina parking lot. A short walk under Collins Avenue and there is no questioning that you are in the correct clothing optional section of the beach. Multiple sets of signage gives fair warning, and just like that you end op on a beach that has a unique mixture of people to say the least.

The first area we found was a place to sit and rent two chairs and an umbrella. It cost us $65.00, but for the secure feeling of laying down and taking in some interesting views, this was totally worth it. It wasn’t very long until we realized we were on the “Homosexual” side of the beach which really didn’t bother us at all. Seconds later we found ourselves oddly comfortable being without clothes, as we noticed that people really dont stare at each other in these places.

COMFORT LEVEL INCREASES

It was after we realized that there really wasn’t any perverted or creeps vibes that we got the bravery to walk into the Atlantic Ocean with no clothes on. I really couldn’t believe how beautiful my girlfriend looks as she splashed out of the ocean looking like a naked barbie doll. Fast forward 5 or more hours later and having no clothing on had nothing to do with the enjoyment of Haulover Beach. I honestly did not want to leave as we were having so much fun together.

THE AWESOME TATTOO IDEA

When I started dating the love of my life I somehow came up with what ended up being what defined our relationship. After the horrible marriage I was in I finally found the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I will never forget when I realized I was in love with her and I would constantly ask her to “Hold on Tight”. I thought this to be the perfect tattoo idea for us to both get at the 2 1/2 year mark together. The best Idea my girlfriend had was exactly what we did and not only got the words tattooed to our arms, but got the tattoo done with the opposites handwriting. Unbelievably cool.

MUCH THE SAME, BUT AMAZING

This time in Miami we found ourselves on our usual long bike rides and exploring as many places as possible. After days 2 realizing that we had soo much fun we decided that in fact we would be heading to the clothing optional beach the following day!! This time we stayed in the hetero or “straight” section, and to our amazement realized that we had a lot more fun on the gay side of the beach. Its nice to be with someone who doesn’t view people in light of their sexuality, and that is what I found in my girlfriend.

LATE FLIGHT FUN

I would highly recommend that if it is at all possible that you get a flight for later in the afternoon. What this does for you is get you that bonus time on the beach or at the pool on the day you are going home On our last day we found ourselves relaxing and not in much of a rush. It really helped that our flight updates via text had us delayed. A FULL day on the beach when you are headed home is always a plus!!

WHY WE KEEP HEADING BACK

Heading back to Florida has become our new maneuver because of the ease of booking flights, finding a place to stay for cheap, and saving money over the course of a 3 night stay. There are 500 things that I can included that we did on this trip, but we’ll save that for the next time. Now all I have to do is change over next months Vegas trip to Florida 🙂

REMEMBER—- This phase of life is All about happiness and enjoying the time with the one you love. Experiencing another person caring deeply for you is worth anything on this planet. Travel Well!!
