There is a moment in a relationship when you have a realization about how you feel. That moment was the time I took a video of my beautiful girlfriend standing at The Legacy Club atop the Circa Hotel in Vegas as she watched a fireworks show.

WHAT MADE THIS TRIP DIFFERENT?
As you may of may not have read, I go to Las Vegas regularly with my model looking girlfriend. Usually we work very hard to plan as much activity as we can and spend the days leading up to departure online researching. This time there were very few goals as we did the longest (and cheapest), Las Vegas adventure.
I wont bore you with the lead up travel, but it goes without saying that we were hav ing cocktails at 4AM and working our way to the terminal. The early flight mixed in with the time change means there is only a loss of 1 hour on the almost 4 hour flight! Again, we are professionals at this point 🙂
ARRIVAL…
The only thing to mention about our arrival is that on this particular day we happenedn to land on the hottest day in Las Vegas history! As the doors opened on the plane, it was like getting hit in the face with a hair dryer. It was a short UBER trip to downtown to when we started our adventure.
Being it the morning, our room was not ready. Knowing the history of the hotel we were staying at, I did the $20 method with the nice lady at the desk to nail in an upgraded (quieter) room in the updated part of the property. This hotel was originally from 1906 and being on the side away from Fremont Street would mean afternoon naps wont be a problem. A short trip to their concierge closet, and our luggage was safe as we awaited the readiness of our room.
PARTY FROM MINUTE 1
From the second we walked into the casino, there was already a feeling of energy that I cant even describe. Anyone who has been downtown to Fremont Street will recommend what I am about to tell you. DON’T buy alcohol/beer from any casino bar without playing as it will cost you $20 a drink. We like to go to the local shops (ABC Stores or other souvenir stands), to spend only eight bucks a drink!
The music was thumping already. The drinks were flowing. We were in our favorite place (besides Miami…Tori 🙂 ), and we didn’t even get to our hotel room yet! As I always write, traveling with the person you love is what we are all after. This trip did not disappoint as you will notice in the long length of this post!
THE ROOM
Our room was perfect! Getting the updated part of the hotel that was not one of the original 10 rooms in Las Vegas was exactly what we needed. The bathroom was modern, the bed was beyond comfortable, with the only trade off being it was a little small, but what do we care. The purpose of the room is to get clean, get sleep, and use the bed for other purposes (if you catch my drift).
FULFILLING A DREAM
The next day we found ourselves on “The Deuce” bus from downtown to head up the strip. I always dreamed of meeting some of my poker heroes during the World Series, and this was my shot. There is something to be said about my girlfriend being willing to walk aimlessly around multiple poker rooms in two hotels until I meet some legends. She understood how much it meant to me and before you knew it, I was talking with none other than Phil Helmuth AND my absolute favorite Daniel Negranu!
FRIDAY NIGHT MAGIC!
Having the offer for free drinks, I assumed we would be able to meet our friend Derrick Stephens at his legacy club during a fireworks show. Watching the back of a Barbie Doll model I get to call my girlfriend, my favorite feeling was watching her look out the window, or at the fireworks. It feels good that the rest of the world gets to see the amazing life she is experiencing
The trip up the strip that day meant the world to me not only because I got to meet poker legends, but because I realized the woman by my side is willing to do anything to fulfill my dreams.
OTHER FIRSTS
I could go on for what would be a book in itself with what we experienced on this trip, but all I can say is that we did things different. There was no usual meal at “Batistas” which we both realized is too much food. Instead we found ourselves eating Coney Dogs at ‘the D”. When we wanted a meal it was Siegals 1941 at the El Cortez which is by far the best prime rib meal on the planet earth. It also costs less than $20!
Activities during the day were more challenging with the 118 degree heat, but we did make it to Stadium Swim for a relaxing afternoon. There is something amazing about staring up at the giant screens which were playing every sporting event on the planet earth. The only down side to Stadium Swim can be the overly loud DJ music thumping, and of course the price of the $11 Michelob Ultras. Besides that we really enjoy Circa.
HOW TO DESCRIBE OUR TYPICAL TRIP
So it’s needless to say that we spend the majority of our time in Las Vegas simply walking up and down Fremont Street. Just people watching downtown Vegas is enough to pass the days away. 6 days went by way too quickly, and sitting in Macarren (Reid) airport waiting on a Redeye flight is how the fun ended.
There is no question that the trip we just went on had absolutely nothing to do with traveling, but had everything to do with spending quality time together. Did we end up with more matching tattoos?…Yes. Did we laugh and dance the night away?…of course.
Remember that this stage of life post divorce was earned by the horrible lives we were once forced to live. Enjoy every moment with the ones you love and safe travels!!
